What Is OCEV?

According to California Bill No. 1271 (SEC.2312.5(d)), certain vehicles are specifically excluded from being classified as electric bikes under this code. These vehicles are categorized as Out of Class Electric Vehicles (OCEVs) for the following reasons:

  1. Highspeed Potential: Vehicles with two or three wheels that are designed by the manufacturer to be modifiable for speeds greater than 20 miles per hour on motor power alone or exceeding 750 watts of power.
  2. Post Sale Modifications: Any vehicle that has been modified to attain speeds greater than 20 miles per hour on motor power alone or to exceed 750 watts of power.

These exclusions ensure that only properly classified e-bikes can be markets as such, maintaining safety standards and regulatory compliance. Riders of OCEV's should be aware of the different legal requirements and responsibilities associated with these vehicles.

Additionally, OCEVs are designed to offer performance and features beyond what traditional e-bikes can provide. Always verify the intended use and ensure you are compliant with local and state regulations when operating an OCEV.

All bikes purchased through City Grounds MUST be assembled by a certified bike shop mechanic. If the bike is NOT built by a certified bike shop mechanic, any warranty will be VOID. We will request for an assembly receipt as proof of professional installation.

For all warranty claims, please contact our Warranty Team at warranty@citygrounds.com. So that we can help you in a timely manner, make sure to include the following:

  • 1. Order Number (we will confirm date of purchase and determine if the item is still under the manufacturer’s warranty time limit)
  • 2. Brief description of the claim
  • 3. Photographs
  • 4. If the item is a bike or frame, include the serial number

We evaluate all warranties case-by-case to determine the best course of action and get you serviced to the best of our ability!

Warranty does not apply to the following:

  • • Any part of a product that has been installed, altered, repaired, or misused
  • • Damage from unintended style of riding, abuse, neglect, accident, and racing
  • • Normal wear and tear of any product (including but not limited to - saddles, grips, tires, tubes, cables, brake pads, chains)
  • • Failure to provide regular maintenance of any product

Labor and shipping are the responsibility of the customer. We do not cover parts purchased and labor performed by another bike shop.

Nice bike but…….

Super great bike quality bleeds from it in SOME places… the hand grips are absolutely GARBAGE…. My son has risen this bike for 6 days and the grips are falling apart, and the chain quality is not great either …

Smooth bike

Already loving this bike smooth ride super fun to ride the disc brakes are nice touch the hub is loud which I like a lot only thing I see that could be better is the pedals not the grippiest but that’s an easy fix love the hookworm tires I bought this because the goon frame slightly bigger than a big ripper and I’m very tall and this bike is super comfortable for me one I adjusted the seat! I added the chain tensioners too!

Solid bike. Manufacturer could package bike a little better.

The bike was easy to assemble. Sucks my Sketch had some scratches out of the box but I think it’s a known issue because it comes with touch up paint in the extra parts. The bike was shipped promptly but the shipping company GLS is horrible. I’ve had previous issues with them before but this time they shipped to my old address (could have been my error but I distinctly remember updating). Not a problem except for the fact that a signature was required for shipping and nobody was living there but somehow they signed for it and it was at my old doorstep. It could have very easily been stolen.
