For the Cretin Fixed Gear Bike, Leader looked no further than their hometown of San Diego and an eclectic group of DIY punk rockers. The Cretins are a local cycling club that promote bike awareness and raise money for good causes through community based events like local group rides and larger scale charity rides. The inspiration behind the Cure Fixed Gear Bike came when a little over a year ago, Sal Lombroso, founder and owner of Leader Bikes, embarked on a battle with pancreatic cancer. With the help of specialist Dr. Andrew Lowy Sal was successfuly cured and put on the path to full recovery.

As a dedication to Dr. Lowy, Leader Bikes created the "Cure" and will be donating a portion of the proceeds of every sale to help Dr. Lowy's research into new techniques and practices in his fight to cure cancer.
