The 2013 Red Bull Ride + Style event was held this past weekend in San Francisco on Saturday, May 4th. A crowd of over 5,000 people showed up to watch and cheer on a solid group of track and fixed gear freestyle riders throughout the day. The event consisted of two sub events, a track race which incorporated obstacles and ramps in the morning and a fixed gear freestyle trick competition in the afternoon.
The track race featured last years winner Addison Zawada along with other familiar faces including Jason Clary, Hernan Montenegro, Walton Brush and our very own team rider Congo Mitchell among others. Heat after heat the intensity increased with riders taking massive spills and huge risks to try and out hustle their competitor. At the end of the day, Jason Clary stood atop the podium as the 2013 track race champion.
“I dug deep today, I didn’t think it was going to happen, I’ve been off the bike for about six months,” said Clary. “I had so much support from Oakley, Zen, my friends and family and my new wife. I’m a happy man right now. I didn’t know what to expect, but the self-confidence was there, I had the right bike, the right attitude and I came in to do my best.” That he did. Clary was followed up by the quick Hernan Montenegro in second and Mash team member Walton Brush in third. - [Red Bull Content Pool]
